If you're like me heat has taken it's toll on your hair a few times. With so many products out there how do you know which ones really with without spending a fortune or going insane trying to find out?
I'm going to let y'all in on a little secret my mom told me. Now you might think this is crazy but mayonnaise is amazing for your hair! Yes, mayo. The kind that goes on your sandwich. This doesn't mean just glob it on and walk out the door, you'll smell like sour garbage in no time. But this is a great inexpensive way to deep condition your hair after over processing it from dyes, a recent relaxer or heat damage. Follow these steps and watch how soft your hair feels after. You'll thank me later.
What you need:
- Mayo. (The brand doesn't matter, I usually buy the store brand because it's pretty cheap.)
- A wide tooth comb.
- A plastic shower cap
- A blow dryer you can sit under or a shower.
1. Get the mayo and spoon some into a bowl. You can always spoon more in as you go a long if you need more.(This is so you don't dip your hairy hands back in the jar.)
2. Part your hair in four sections
4. Once your entire head is covered in the mayo make sure to completely saturate your ends. That's where those evil spit ends live.
5. Put the shower cap on.
6. If you have a dryer you can sit under put it on a high temp and sit under it for 15 mins. If you don't have a dryer stand under hot water in the shower with the water falling directly on the cap for 15 mins. Be sure to keep the shower cap on!
7. Rinse all of the mayo out of your hair. Then wash, condition and style as usual.
Your hair will feel amazing! Do this once or twice a month (depending on your level of damage or dryness) and the quality of our hair will change tremendously.
